A Passionate Start – Lucidity’s Mountain Challenge: Mt. Weiliao

To promote a healthy workplace and encourage employees to push their limits, Lucidity organizes an annual hiking challenge. Mt. Weiliao has become a symbolic starting point—an entry ticket, even—for those taking on our "Shining Star Wall Challenge" series. Though considered our beginner’s hike, the round-trip spans roughly 20 kilometers and is far from easy. For many first-time hikers, it’s both a physical and mental test.

On the day of the hike, before the sun even rose, our colleagues gathered at the office, shaking off the early-morning chill and sleepiness, ready for the journey ahead to Maolin National Scenic Area in Kaohsiung. Lucidity made sure everyone was well-prepared by providing hiking backpacks and arranging experienced hiking assistants to accompany the group—handling everything from safety and supplies to morale support.

The first part of the trail follows a relatively smooth industrial road, but the real challenge kicks in after the 7K mark, with steep slopes and endless stone steps. The path was slippery from rain, and the elevation changes made it extra tough—especially for those hiking for the first time. Still, our teammates powered through with resilience and team spirit, constantly encouraging and looking out for each other. It was a true reminder of the saying: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

Beyond the physical challenge, this event also helped build stronger connections between departments. Colleagues who didn’t usually work together got the chance to bond while aiming for the same goal. One participant shared that they initially doubted whether they could finish, but with the support of teammates, they not only completed the hike—they discovered a new sense of confidence.
